Ready For Anything - A Summary of Smart Buildings 2024
Sporting our finest hi-vis, the team set out for Smart Buildings 2024 ready to construct the Innon stand at ExCeL London this past October.
For those who grew up with construction-based toys, the stand is a dream to put together: twist and lock poles, easy-to-use connectors complete with colour-coded labels and (thanks to Tecna, our stand contractor) easy-to-follow instructions.
With the frameworks completed, the next step was to attach the graphics and see our new branding for the first time outside the digital space. While the graphics were a little trickier to get into place, with some determination and a few sore thumbs later, the stand was completed, and we could set up products ready for display.
Wireless technology took pride of place, with a wall dedicated to sensors and products from Milesight IOT Technologies. Because Innon is an Milesight Authorised Solution Partner, we were able to benefit from the added support of having representatives from Milesight on the stand alongside us.
Familiar products like such as Tridium's JACE 9000 and iSMA Controlli's MAC36PRO were out on display as well as a range of our BMS touch screens including our best seller the 10" Link Touch and our largest screen the 21" Link Touch which was demonstrating Reflow by Niagara Mods. And making its debut was the Link Edge system, developed in partnership with J2 Innovations.
Fast forward to show opening, and it's like being part of an epic drum roll; gentle at first when the shutters raise, with the first few visitors entering, then gradually raising to a roar as the hall fills with visitors and you’re surrounded by a buzzing hive of conversations taking place on the stand and around the event.
We were fortunate to receive visits from many of our clients, it was great to meet so many people at Smart Buildings and benefit from quality face time. Here are the highlights:
Introducing Ready For Anything
Aside from receiving many compliments about our new colour scheme, we discussed how Innon is committed to helping engineers stay “Ready for Anything” by providing flexible learning opportunities, such as self-paced online courses and condensed, high-impact training modules. Our goal is to empower engineers with the tools they need to stay ahead, even with their busy schedules.
Education for Engineers: A Growing Need
One of the recurring themes we heard from attendees was the hunger for more educational content for engineers. They’re eager to learn about the latest innovations, but the reality is that many are pressed for time. Balancing the demands of their day-to-day responsibilities while trying to stay up-to-date on the latest developments can be challenging.
LoRaWAN: The Untapped Potential
Another big topic at the event was LoRaWAN technology. While it’s gaining momentum, there’s still a knowledge gap in the market. Many industry professionals aren’t fully aware of the broad possibilities it offers for connectivity, especially in complex, large-scale facilities.
LoRaWAN has the potential to revolutionise how buildings are monitored and managed by offering long-range, low-power communication that’s perfect for connecting a wide range of sensors and devices. However, education and awareness are crucial to fully harness this technology’s benefits. At Innon, we’re planning to ramp up our educational efforts around LoRaWAN to ensure that more people understand how it can integrate into their building systems.
Introducing Link Edge: A Game Changer
We were excited to introduce Link Edge, our newest system that combines an edge device with seamless cloud connectivity. One of the key features of Link Edge is how effortlessly it enables users to connect and monitor a wide range of systems in their facility. From air quality to energy consumption, Link Edge provides the flexibility to monitor it all, while offering real-time data accessible from anywhere.
This solution was met with great interest as it simplifies deployment and ensures facilities are ready for today’s needs and tomorrow’s possibilities. Engineers were especially interested in how Link Edge can reduce their reliance on VPNs or complicated setups, providing a more streamlined approach to remote monitoring.
We were proud to to share Link Edge with J2 Innovations who were also exhibiting at Smart Buildings which gave us the opportunity to have Link Edge accessible from two locations.
The Path Forward
Our conversations at Smart Buildings 2024 made it clear that education and practical solutions are what the industry needs most right now. At Innon, we’re committed to filling that gap by offering both cutting-edge products and the knowledge needed to implement them effectively.
Whether it’s through better educational resources or pioneering technologies like Link Edge, we’re here to ensure that engineers and their clients are Ready for Anything.
Stay tuned for more from Innon as we continue to innovate, educate, and drive the industry forward.
We'd like to thank the organiser of Smart Buildings Show and we'll see you next year for Smart Buildings 2025!
